A Year Tick

Friday October 23

Spider was running on 'Star Castle time', he kept us waiting 30 minutes. Even so, the Richards Pipit was still showing well in the pig field at the top of PorthLoo Lane. PorthLoo beach had a scattering of birds for the first time this trip, it's usually so reliable for common waders. Ringed Plovers. 2 more Black Redstarts and then, a Sparrowhawk hurted through.

As we walked to Lower Moors via the duckpond, a fine rain started. Taking shelter in the ISBG hide to eat our lunch, the rain became heavy. At the first sign of a respite, we set off for Oldtown bay but had to take shelter again under bushes on the school approach track. It looked dire so we walked on, arriving at the Dairy, very wet, for a delicious Roskilly chocolate icecream
