A Complete Contrast to the 1st

Monday October 2
Having arranged to meet Bridge and Aileen at Titchwell, we were delighted to rise on a beautiful sunny morning with little wind. We spent all morning at the reserve, walking as far as the sea for the first time since the earth bank, across the brackish pool, was raised where Parrinder used to be. Several birds to add to yesterday's list including Avocets and a Spot Red on the first pool and, two Whoopers flew in as we sat in the Hide. Finding the bench on the sea watching platforn empty, we spent much longer there than if we'd been standing. At least 10 G C grebes, 2 male Eiders, a singe Goldeneye and 5 R B Mergansers on an apparently empty sea. The exposed shoreline mussel beds teemed with the expected waders and, one Little Stint which was unexpected.
