February 21
A late, mid-day start for the reported Hooded Crow at the Beeston Regis pig field. No sign of it among the many Jackdaws and Carrion Crows so, we decided to drive on to Roydon Common. The Common is extensive but only a short walk gave us views of a Great Grey Shrike, swaying on top of a small bare tree, undeterred by the model aeroplane club flying nearby. Excellent, who needs Dersingham Bog! A very short burst of song from a Woodlark, one Stonechat and a flying, calling Green Woodpecker enhanced the visit.
